Sol Art is delighted to present Menagerie a solo exhibition featuring a major body of work by acclaimed animal and landscape, Wexford based artist Paul James.

Paul's paintings range from vivid portrayals of farm yard and domestic animals to witty metaphorical narratives of wildlife in urban spaces.  A realist painter with an international professional career spanning over 30 years he has established himself as one of the UK & Irelands most gifted animal artists.  His work is remarkable for the consummate skill with which he depicts the details of fleece, fur and feathers and the unexpected juxtapositions of creatures and contexts. Often combining a humorous approach to his subjects with the manipulation of perspective and scale, he creates immediate and arresting pieces that have gained him wide acclaim.

Paul has won some prestigious accolades including; finalist in 'Not the Turner Prize', the 'Addenda Award' from the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, 'People's Favourite' at The Royal West of England Academy and in 2006 he was awarded Signature Membership of 'The Society of Animal Artists' based in New York.

It is through the permanent record of his paintings that viewers are invited to share Paul’s perceptions and the delight that he so obviously derives from observing and portraying aspects of the natural and man-made world.

Wine reception starts at 6.30pm. Paul James will also be giving a presentation on the stage by stage process he goes through to create his finely executed works of art.
