Ways with Colour

An exhibition of the work of James Brohan, Paul Costelloe and Gerard McGourty at The Stephen’s Green Hibernian Club, 9 Stephen’s Green

June 24 - June 28, 2015

Sol Art will host a group exhibition of some of its finest painters in the beautiful rooms of the Stephen’s Green Hibernian Club on the evening of 4 June 2015. The work of James Brohan, Paul Costelloe and Gerard McGourty will be showcased.

What links these artists is their painterly approach to their work and their shared ability to use colour as a tool to express emotion. Paul Costelloe the renowned Irish fashion designer, works in the delicate tones of watercolour, expressing personal and intimate themes, James Brohan applies thick bright impasto oil paints in his signature style, creating rich genre and landscape scenes and Gerard McGourty uses romantic symbolism and vivid colours to convey his narrative.

While distinctly different in their techniques and their methods of composition, these artists share a connection in their use of colour as a vehicle for painting emotion.

The exhibition will be launched on Wednesday 24 June at 6pm.

Location: The Stephen’s Green Hibernian Club, 9 Saint Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2
