October 19 - October 26, 2012

Patrick Reel will show 30 paintings, including a number of new works, in the Athena Room from Friday 19th October. This exhibition is in memory of Mary Lavin.

Born in Co. Louth, Patrick Reel is a self-taught artist who lives in Navan, Co. Meath. Reel’s work was at the core of a very vibrant contemporary arts scene in Dublin during the 1970s. His work featured in the Irish Exhibition of Living Art in 1968, with fellow exhibitors including Louis le Brocquy, Nano Reid, Mainie Jellett and Michael Farrell. Reel was also one of the first artists to hold a sold-out solo show in a very young Project Arts Centre in Dublin in 1973. He has run the Oriel Gallery in Navan since 1976. This is Reel’s first solo show in Dublin since his 1973 Project Arts Centre exhibition, which was opened by renowned writer and life-long colleague, Mary Lavin.
